News has become an essential part of everyday life because people can now receive information almost instantly through a wide range of digital platforms. I believe this change is mainly the result of technological advances, and overall it has had a positive impact on society.
The main reason why the media is more influential today is that information is available at any time through smartphones, websites and social media platforms. Unlike in the past, people no longer need to wait for newspapers or television broadcasts because updates appear within seconds of an event happening. As a result, millions of people can follow the same story simultaneously regardless of where they live. News also affects many daily decisions, including travel plans, financial choices and health precautions. Consequently, modern technology has greatly increased the importance and influence of the media.
In my opinion, this is largely a positive development because well-informed people are able to make better decisions and respond more quickly to changing situations. For example, governments can use the media to warn citizens about severe weather or public health emergencies, allowing people to protect themselves. It is true that false information can spread quickly online and sometimes confuse the public. However, this problem can be reduced if people use reliable news sources and develop critical thinking skills. Therefore, the advantages of having immediate access to information clearly outweigh the disadvantages.
In conclusion, advances in communication technology have made the media far more influential than before, and I believe this has benefited society overall.
